www.direct.gov.uk/taxdisc – Renew Your Tax Disk Online

www.direct.gov.uk/taxdisc

Renewing your tax disc is one of those irritating, time consuming tasks and cost that noone likes doing. Then there’s finding out the prices. That is, until now.

Thankfully you can renew your tax disc online now at www.direct.gov.uk/taxdisc, so now the hassle has been taken out of it – it’s a really useful site. Click any of the links above or below for further information.

It’s well worth renewing for the full 12 months, as opposed to doing it in 6 month splits. That way you can forget about it for a whole year. And fear not, if you happen to sell your car, you can always claim back any leftover tax that you have paid for. And then a lovely cheque drops through your letterbox. I’ve done this in the past through www.direct.gov.uk/taxdisc, so couldn’t believe my luck when I received a rebate on my tax disc.

You can also declare your vehicle as SORN (Statutory Off Road Notification), if your vehicle is off the road, and not being driven.

Bearing in mind prices of most things are continually rising, I would always go for the 12 month tax disk. Besides, you can claim it back if need be should you decide to sell your car.

Alternatively, get yourself an old car like a VW Beetle from the 1970′s, which due to its age doesn’t require taxation. That would save you a bit of cash but you might end up losing it again on repair bills for your old banger!

Whatever you choose to do, the most important thing is to MAKE SURE YOU ARE COVERED! You really, really don’t want to get caught out with an un-taxed vehicle. Just as you wouldn’t want to be caught out driving without car insurance or a valid MOT. Don’t leave it to chance, make sure you’re covered. Head to www.direct.gov.uk/taxdisc now to save yourself hassle later on…
