Met Office rewrite the summer forecast | A theory

Posted by admin under Latest News

The British Summertime, don’t you just love it. Almost as much as we all love the Met Office for their ability to forecast glorious summers…..or so we thought. Not long ago, we were all promised a summer of barbecues……only for this weeks announcement that “errrr, actually we go it wrong, it’s going to p*ss down for the remaining months. And so, we all accept it and go about our work, just like we did when Ian Mcaskell allayed our fears of an impending hurricane back in 1987. And we all know how that turned out.

But what if there is more to it than we are led to believe? Consider this….

A country’s inhabitants that believes it is in for a hot summer is more likely to book it’s holidays in the UK, than go abroad. And the result is an economy with cash being pumped into the UK’s tourism rather than those of Europe and beyond. After all, we are in the grips of a recession. Job done – tourism is on the up, and all our cash remains on home soil.

But now, with the announcement of a rain sodden few months, we are all left with little option other than to stick with it. Unless we fancy a last minute holiday, those of us with kiddy-winks are stuck in the UK with our pre-booked caravan holidays that we paid for back in April when we were led to believe we were in for a scorcher.

Of course, any suggestion of a conspiracy is crazy talk, besides, I can’t imagine the likes of Michael Fish or Francis off Sky going for it can you? Whatever the case, the error by the Met office has surely worked in the UK economies favour.
