What a season it’s been so far – surely inconsistency has to be the buzz word for this season. Liverpool the largest culprits, but also Man Utd and even Chelsea having their moments.

There was a point when Chelsea looked an unstoppable juggernaut racing towards the title, capped with their 3-0 demolition of Arsenal at The Emirates stadium (who themselves have somehow got back in the mix, following the inconsistencies of the “Top 2″). The form teams as we reach the end of the year are Aston Villa and Birmingham, so a great time to be from the Midlands. Unless you;re from Wolves of course, following Mick McCarthys inexplicable team-sheet for the away trip to Man Utd, resulting in a 3-0 defeat. By fielding their second string that day, Wolves extracted the claim from Arsene Wenger that they are now competing with Man Utd over 37 games, as opposed to 38. Whereas, if you’re Liverpool, you’re not competing over any game. To say they are an insult to their illustrious history is an understatement. All they can wish for is that either Chelsea or Arsenal (or even Villa) take the Premiership crown in May 2010, to avoid Man Utd moving ahead on titles won. Currently Liverpool and Man Utd reside on 18 titles apiece.

It promises to be a fascinating 2010….
